THE BEAUTY AND DURABILITY OF SOLID & 3-Ply ENGINEERED TEAK & EXOTICS FROM SUSTAINABLE FORESTS
|
Wood is now the flooring of choice....... Why take a chance with ANYTHING but TEAK??
|
Thank you for considering an Environmentally Certified floor but remember, as a natural product, it comes in RANDOM LENGTHS (see below) and there will be some variation in color and grain. These variations are natural and will only add warmth and character to your floor.

A big concern when purchasing your hardwood: JUST HOW HARD IS IT?
The most common scale for the "hardness" of wood flooring is the "JANKA SCALE"; an internationally recognized test which measures the force required to embed a .444-inch steel ball to half
its diameter into the wood. The higher the number, the harder the species of wood.
While TEAK is considered "AVERAGE" (1050 JANKA), in REAL WORLD USE, there is little difference in durability between 1,000 and 1,500, the range at which most the most commonly–used
hardwood floors fall into. Teak's true strength lies in its dimensional stability and rich beauty --It is very well adapted to variations in humidity and moisture. It is not until you reach the “Super
Hards” above 2,000 that you see much difference. Unfortunately, none of the “Super Hards” are well suited to plantation growing and their use can encourage illegal logging.
We use exotics such as ALMENDRO purchased from managed forests and ONLY as the wear layer for our engineered flooring
NOTE: All wood floors below 2,000 are subject to normal wear and tear from high heels, large pets or dropped objects. However, such irregular wear patterns are natural and quickly become
part of the natural character of the floor. On any wood floor, use felt pads on chair legs and furniture and avoid rolling heavy objects or office chairs without a protective mat!

What Exactly does "RANDOM LENGTHS" Mean?
All flooring comes in "Random Lengths". The length of the flooring is a function of the size of the trees used in the manufacture and the acceptable waste allowed by the manufacturer. All
flooring from Unique American Teak comes in the longest possible lengths while meeting our primary mission of utilizing market forces to preserve scarce ecosystems.
- - Solid floors come in 48" boxes
- Average length of over 24"
